An overview of the 2026 VKI lecture series on flow control

On February 23 – 27 2026, the Von Karman Institute for fluid dynamics (VKI) hosted the 2026 edition of the lecture series on flow control on-site at Sint-Genesius-Rode, Belgium. The lecture series is dedicated to exploring the fundamental principles, state-of-the-art technologies, and future directions that are driving the development of flow control. We have gathered a distinguished panel of international experts to deliver a comprehensive program, moving from the core physics to advanced algorithms and real-world applications.

The NEXTFLOW team was a key contributor to the series: Stefano Discetti served both as lecturer and as the course co-director (together with Miguel Mendez, VKI), and Luca Franceschelli set up a live flow control demonstration using event-based velocimetry.
